Have you ever noticed an unexpected calendar event in your calendar? Cybercriminals are sending fake calendar invites with links to phishing websites. These invites might claim you've won a prize or urge urgent action. If clicked, they could steal your personal information or install harmful software.听
IMPORTANT: Even if your calendar is set to private, others can still invite you to events, which will show up on your calendar. This means bad actors can invite you to fake events even if they are outside of BC.
Be Eagle-Eyed About Suspicious Calendar Events
- If you are not expecting a calendar event, check who created it in the event description.

- If you do not know the sender, do not engage with the event.
- Be cautious of clicking links in Calendar descriptions, and do not do so at all if it is an unsolicited invite.
- Keep an eye out for these red flags:
- Invitations from unknown senders.
- Titles that promise prizes or rewards.
- Events marked "Urgent" or "Important."
- Vague or poorly written invites.
- Links that lead to unfamiliar websites.
